10 Quirky gifts for geeky girls

1. Karotz
This quirky little white rabbit called Karotz aims to be your very own little robotic
personal assistant. But remember, this is less of a tidy up that mess, make me a
meal and do my homework robot and more of a play me a nice song and tell me
how many unread emails I have robot.
Karotz can do a range of things, like surf the internet to answer a question, select
and read emails, play you music, keep guard over your home (with a camera not
a weapon), wake you up with your favourite radio station, read blogs out loud and
even provide kids with a range of games and educational activities.
It has built-in voice recognition software, so you can speak to it directly, or control
it using your smart phone (it has a special controller app for that) or your PC.
There are also a few other cool additions too, like different coloured ears and
accessories for the little guys and the chance to interact with the wider Karotz
community at www.karotz.com.
It's more of an unusual choice than chocolates or flowers, but less high
maintenance than a puppy.
Available from Karotz for $129.99.
2. Urbanears Tanto
We're big fans of Urbanears' bright, well-made and compact headphones. So, we
were very happy to see that the brand has brought out a few new shades for
spring. This rich purple/pink 'grape' shade is probably our favourite and for a
Valentine's gift we'd go with the Tanto, which uses 40mm drivers and brings you
great quality sound in a really light package.
Available from Urbanears for £41.

3. Pink Nerd Domo

If you really must go down the cuddly toy route, then try something a little bit
different. We heart this pink, geeky Domo.
Available from Fredflare for $18.

4. Holga iPhone Lens

A fun and quirky iPhone accessory perfect for mobile photography lovers, the Holga
Lens has nine different toy camera lenses that give you a range of effects, like
vignettes and vibrant colours.

5. Pebble Smartstick
The Pebble Smartstick is a super compact gadget for keeping all kinds of devices
charged on the go and comes with five different adaptor tips. There are plenty of
back-up battery packs on the market, but this one is cute, compact and look, look it
comes in pink.
Available from Firebox for £29.99.

6. Jawbone Jambox Speaker
This powerful wireless speaker from Jawbone allows you to stream tunes via any
Bluetooth connection from your phone, computer or any other source and play your
music LOUD. You can also add apps, change settings and update the software via
the My Talk website.
Available from Comet for £159.

7. Digital Photo Keychain

Valentine's Day key chains are usually cheesy hearts or smiling faces, which we
think are far too vomtastic for you guys. Instead try this digital photo key chain,
which keeps all of your favorite photos with you all the time. Very cute. You plug it
straight into a computer and drag and drop any photos you want with you, which will
then be displayed on the 1.5" LCD screen. Of course you can still load it up with
cheesy, kissing photos of you and your loved on if you really want.
Available from Firebox for £9.99.

8. Magicbox DAB Radio
We love this little retro DAB radio from audio designer Magicbox. The quirky device
has automatic station search and comes with a headphone socket for private
listening.
Available from Tesco Direct for £34.97.

9. Lomography Pink Fisheye Camera
This lomo camera takes only fisheye shots, which capture 170 degrees of your field
of vision. It comes with a photo book, instruction booklet and wrist strap and
requires 35mm film. It's ideal for those who love photography but want to try
something a little different.
Available from Urban Outfitters for £45.

10. iNecklace
The iNecklace from Adafruit is a quirky little flashing on/off button pendant, which
would make a cute novelty gift for geeks.
The iNecklace is completely open source too, meaning the circuit board and CAD
files can be hacked and altered, so you can play around with how the light flashes.
Available from Adafruit for $75.
